ABOUT

Ascent Psychological Services, LLC

Welcome to Ascent Psychological Services (APS). My name is Dr. Ellyn Stein, and I have dedicated my career to assisting individuals in optimizing their lives, often in the face of complex and life-altering obstacles. I see life as a continuous journey of highs and lows, a constant flow of experiences that mold our perspective of both ourselves and the world. This perspective is particularly impacted when you or a loved one faces a serious medical illness such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, to name a few. The path through diagnosis, adjustment, and acceptance is long and winding, and that’s where APS comes in.

My mission is to accompany you through every stage of your personal journey, offering specialized support and empowering strategies to help you navigate the peaks and valleys in your life. With compassion and expertise, my goal is to help you rise above life’s obstacles, celebrate the victories, and navigate the challenges with strength, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.

I understand that the path through medical diagnoses involves not just physical struggles, but emotional ones, as well. Grief becomes a natural companion, manifesting itself in many forms. Whether you’re grappling with the loss of health, struggling with infertility, contending with a perceived loss of control, or mourning the passing of a loved one, therapy offers a safe haven to process your grief. Amid life’s most formidable tests, my goal is to honor the depth of your unique experience, while helping you explore your complex emotions and guiding you towards finding hope and healing.

For some, the transition from battling a serious illness to the maintenance or survivorship phase introduces an unexpected array of challenges. Reacclimating to regular daily routines can elicit a complex blend of emotions, as individuals must confront the enduring psychological and/or physical aftermath of their illness. My objective is to provide unwavering support to my clients during this transition, assisting them as they adapt to their ‘new normal’ and aiding them in comprehending the various ways in which illness has left an imprint on their lives. Together, we ascend towards greater well-being, one step at a time.
